Surely, there is history to be told about Victoria Place even though it has only been around since about 1985.
How long have you lived here? Since the neighborhood first began and you are the original owner of your house? We need to here from you. At the end of this post, you will see "# comments". Please click on it and tell us how long you have lived here and tell us anything you want to share about the neighborhood. Your editor, David Jeffreys, has lived here since 1992 and I remember when the loop was unfinished with empty lots at the end and just a dirt path for part of the loop. I also remember when the neighborhood began taking on more color with a greater variety of houses painted different new colors.
What is the origin of our street names: Abbington, Wentworth, Galahad, Picadilly, Muirfield, and Troon? Are they all old Victorian England names?
Tell us about our original developer who went broke. Was there a bad recession then similar to the one now? How many of the homes were built by the original developer? How many different models were there to choose from? Which was the smallest model and which was the largest model? Was anything else originally planned for the neighborhood, such as a community pool or clubhouse? Perhaps you have pictures or a brochure to share.
Who knows anything about the original owner of the land that Victoria Place now sits on? Do you know what the vegetation was like then, other than the pine trees? Were there venus fly traps, etc.? Perhaps Hugh MacRae owned this land, as he owned the land where the park, Senior Center, and Hoggard High School are now.
So, okay, who is our earliest resident? We went to know!
